Another X1 flare (R3 (Strong) radio blackout
published: Tuesday, January 17, 2023 14:05 UTC

Just over 24 hours after the last X1 flare, the Sun produced another X1 flare (R3-Strong radio blackout), this time from Region 3186. This event occurred on 10 January at 2247 UTC (5:47 pm EST) with the day-lit regions of Earth seeing the most impacts (short-term HF radio frequency blackouts). Region 3186 has been quite active since rotating onto the visible disk, generating several M-class and C-class flares as well as the X-class flare. Continue visiting our SWPC webpage for the latest information and updates.
