An M1 flare (R1-Minor radio blackout) occurred on 28 Dec from Region 2473. The long-duration flare began at about 28/1120 UTC (0620 ET), peaked at 18/1245 UTC (0745 ET) and ended at 28/1409 UTC (0909 ET). Initial analysis of available GOES/SXI and NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) imagery, indicated a coronal mass ejection (CME) may have occurred in association with this flare. Additionally, a Type IV Radio Sweep was detected and is also indicative of a possible CME. SWPC forecasters will continue to analyze other imagery as it becomes available, and await updated coronagraph imagery, in order to confirm whether a CME did occur in relation to this event.
