Planetary K-Index Plot Changes
Temporarily Rolled Back: Planetary K-Index Plot Changes
published: Tuesday, September 06, 2022 14:07 UTC

iPhone and users of the Safari web browser on Macs users have reported issues with this new product.  We have temporarily rolled back this change while we work on a fix and apologize for any inconvenience. This change was originally implemented for the Estimated Planetary K Index plot on August 30, 2022.

  • Plot colors aligned with NOAA G-Scales

    • The Planetary K-Index plot displays green columns for Kp <=4, then follows the G-Scales beginning with Kp = 5 (yellow)

  • Decimal Kp values displayed

    • On or after 8/30/2022 Kp values will now be displayed in decimal format (e.g., 1.33, 1.67, 2.00)

  • Changes will be made to the main Planetary K-Index Plot as well as the Planetary K-Index plots displayed in the Aviation and Electric Power community dashboards
